ABOUT A CITY

BANYOLES

Banyoles is a city in the north-west of Spain.

It's got a population of about 18,780 and there are a lot of tourism here.

I like Banyoles because it is my city and it's a friendly place. For tourists there is the Lake, the old Banyoles town center, the wall, and there are a lot of restaurants and hotels. My favourite places are the lake and the theater.

Banyoles is 15 kilometers from Girona. There are about 20 minutes by car to Girona.

Laia Millan is my cousin. She's from Girona, a big city in Spain. She hasn't got any sisters or brothers.

She's mad about animals but hasn't got any pets.

She's also into sport she likes swimming but she's not interested in football. She prefers playing with her friends in the park. She's in a play at the theater because she like play the piano.

At home, Laia listening to music in her mp3, her favorite grup of music is Macedonia. She likes eating pizza and potatoes.

Hi!

I'm very happy that you're coming to stay with us next week. Here's some information about my timetable and my school.

School starts at nine o'clock except on Friday. It starts at half past eight and finishes at two o'clock and there are six lessons every day. Lessons last sixty minutes. All of subjects are compulsory. The school finishes at five o'clock. There are clubs after school, for example: music, drama...

I sometimes have lunch in the canteen. You can buy food for breakfast or a snack, bread and chocolate, fruit... But there aren't fizzy drinks.

Laura      I'm in a samba band. We've got band practice now.

               participate in the Brighton Carnival.

Tina        A carnival? Cool! What do you do in it?

Laura      Well, we sing, dance and wear costumes.

               It's fun.

Tina        I love dancing. What about you, Jake?

Jake       I don't mind watching them, but I hate dancing.

Meet Christine Walton from Las Vegas, USA... she has the longest fingernails in the world. The nails are 309.8 cm on the left hand and 292.1 cm on the right hand.

Christine says her nails are not a problem: she drives, cleans and even texts. Why doesen't she cut them? "It's like a leg. I wouldn't just chop it off!" she says.

This nature documentary is the true story of The Lion King. You'll meet a lion cub called Mara and a cheetah named Sita and her five cubs. You'll also meet Fang, a lion who defends his family from another lion. It's an interesting and adorable story.
